Join MoveMakers Philly’s campaign to launch After School Pick Up programs  in Powelton Village. We need 30 families that would like to take the journey with us in 2025/2026 in order to launch.

MoveMakers Philly After School Pick Up Program is devoted to supporting students with achieving excellence via a variety of disciplines. Our program is built on 10 years of programming in Rittenhouse and Washington Square.

MoveMakers provides students the opportunity to explore a diverse range of art and athletics. They can either experience everything offered or they can choose to specialize. 

The primary class programs that students can select are Dance and Music. All After School Pick Up students are automatically registered for dance classes. Students may elect for private music lessons, which require an additional a la carte fee. Music Lab and Arts Lab are integrated into every Range of Motion After School Participant’s experience . Our music lab features digital music production and beat making. Our Arts Lab features traditional arts and crafts as well as digital art and animation. Both labs are taught in a group format. 

Our goal is to support your child with balance and integration between school and home. We strive to be a bridge and intermediary that supports harmony for all at home after a long day of work and learning. ​

Dance 
MoveMakers focuses on street dance. Our beginner classes focus on hip hop foundations and breaking (commonly known as break dance). Intermediates and above learn foundational styles including locking, popping, house, waacking and vogue. 

Music 
Philly Music Factory is the music school partner of MoveMakers, offering private lessons in Rittenhouse since 2017. We offer a wide spectrum of instruments including piano, voice, guitar, drums, violin, cello, saxophone, trumpet and more. We also offer music ensemble programs to more advanced students. 

Private lesson prices:

MoveMakers Philly in its 10th season has the wonderful opportunity of opening in Powelton Village at 36th and Baring inside St Andrew and St Monica Church. Over the years, many of our most devoted students have traveled to Center City from West Philly. Moreover, there have been plenty of families living in West Philly that have expressed frustration about difficulties getting to us due to schedule conflicts and other circumstances. We are excited by the chance to bring the services that have enriched families in Rittenhouse and Washington Sq. to Powelton Village. 

In 2015, I founded MoveMakers Philly with the aim to challenge Philly’s general experience and perception of dance education. Regardless of the discipline, dance has most often been an activity predominantly focused on aesthetics and preparing for the stage. With MoveMakers, my mission was to bring character and soft skill development to the forefront of dance education.  Growing up in Hip Hop culture,  I was nurtured by a practice that prioritized community, cultural understanding and creative exploration. Philly’s Hip Hop community supported me in the development of collaborative skills, discipline, determination, compassion and creative prowess. Hip Hop education helped to reveal the importance of serving and building up others. I’m certainly not alone in holding such value as demonstrated by MoveMakers staff and many colleagues and friends doing similar work in Philly. MoveMakers Philly has supported the development of incredible young dancers in Philly, but the importance of our work extends far beyond the dance floor. 

The after school programs that we operate at 2100 and 812 Chestnut are a trusted resource for the entire family. Our venues are platforms for learning and building relationships for the children, while also providing reliable partnership with families as an intermediary between school and home. I frequently share with families that my goal is for our work to help strike a balance for the kids as they transition between school and home. MoveMakers provides an outlet for the students to let go of the pressures and challenges of the school day through recreation and exploration, hopefully sending them home centered and oriented towards rest and family time. We pride ourselves in being a resource for our families.
