Vince Johnson, Philadelphia native and graduate of Villanova University, has been a dance teacher for more than a decade. He helped to establish the first hip hop program at the Rock School of Dance Education in center city Philadelphia. He has taught dance workshops nationally and abroad to youth and adults. He also has 14 years of experience as a martial arts instructor. In competitive martial arts, he has coached more than 5 world champions and dozens of elite competitors. For Movemakers, Vince acts as program director, overseeing the teachers, managing student progress and coordinating performance.

Hip Hop Fundamentals is a diverse group of professional breakdancers dedicated to teaching youth empowerment, social issues, and academic content through Hip Hop dance. Since 2010, the company has performed over 1200 shows for schools, community sites, and public organizations, as well as implementing numerous workshops, after school programs, professional development sessions for teachers, and in-school residencies. Hip Hop Fundamentals currently collaborates with Young Audiences, the Rock School of Dance, Movemakers, and are resident artists at Philadelphia's Asian Arts Initative. We strive to push the boundaries of what Breaking can accomplish academically, socially, and artistically.

FranÇois Zayas
Composer, arranger and percussionist. Born in Cuba, Zayas graduated from the Instituto Superior de Artes (ISA) in 1998. He taught there, while still a student and after graduation and was a member of the National Symphonic Orchestra of Cuba. During this time he collaborated on different projects with bands of diverse backgrounds, including Jazz, Hip Hop, and Rock. From 1994 to his establishment in the USA in 2006, he made several international tours with different groups. In the last ten years he has collaborated with many musicians, choreographers, and educators, sometimes with his own arrangements or original compositions, at other times as an instrumentalist. |
Chrissie Loftus
With her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education (voice and piano emphesis) from Temple University, Chrissie is a certified Music Teacher. She has taught music in classrooms and in private lessons for years. Her performance repertoire includes multiple languages, dialects, and styles as diverse as R&B to Opera. She is experienced in recording and stage productions and she has been commissioned to compose music for theatrical scripts. Currently, Chrissie performs original music with her band iNFiNiEN. They recently recorded their second album and play live throughout the tri state area. Chrissie's combination of training, talent, and musical passion encourages her students to relax and enjoy being musicians. All ages enjoy her humorous, never-intimidating teaching style. She helps students feel comfortable and confident while learning new skills -- or tuning-up rusty ones. |
